Help choosing between 3 different offers
Hi Guys. I have the following job offers and am interested in getting some advice on which one to choose. Do you guys have any opinions on these and which one would be the best option if my long-term target is a top business school?
Qualtrics Sales Development
RSM Tech Risk Consulting
Epic Systems Project Manager (healthcare software implementation focus)
The sales role has substantially lower pay than the other two but allows me to enter the big tech space (which I'm particularly interested in).
Take the Consulting role. It places best into MBA Programs. Although it's not pure strategy work, I wouldn't see why you can't get into a T15 MBA Program given you have great stats.
Qualtrics trying to move fast into the product side could work as well - don't know how much coding/ engineering background they require for that, though.
Thanks for the answer. Basically, the Qualtrics role would consist of a promotion path to account executive, and from there leadership roles and enterprise account executive positions.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the pure sales career path. Generally speaking, the product side gets a better rep (not only from adcoms). You could craft a story about successful tech sales wanting to switch careers, hence the need for an MBA, but I have the feeling that's just less appealing than successful niche consulting wanting e.g. to move into strategy consulting or into a corporate role.

Note: these views are pretty subjective, so take it with a grain of salt.

I absolutely agree. Thank you for the advice, there aren't many people in my life that are able to confidently help me with this decision. Any thoughts on the healthcare software project manager role?
Instinctively I tend to like it. I'm currently doing a bit of healthcare and find it super interesting (including the fact that it might the most important industry along with tech, in my opinion). The only problem I see with this role is that you are doing software implementation, which is usually not super interesting and allows for less growth, unless you kill it and get 2 significant promotions in less than 3 years.
If the company is unique or has a really good product, then the internal opportunities (linked to the company growing) along with the signaling component might turn the opportunity into a good shot, but I'll assume that it's not a Health Catalyst, Flatiron Health or Devoted Health...
