Management Consulting / Tech Internships

I am an incoming STEM student at a top 4 UK school (Oxbridge/LSE/Imperial). I've ruled out IB, as although I find the work interesting, I don't have the steam for consistent 80+ hour weeks. I've had a year of business experience, and think I would find consulting, and it's exit opportunities (startups, corp dev, PE etc) both interesting.

However, I also find tech interesting. I feel like tech jobs are much easier to land, as the interview stage is more meritocratic. I like to think I'm a good person to be around, but even still, all it takes is an interviewer having a sour day or one misfired joke to get binned at an interview stage for top consulting firms. From what I've heard, if you are a programming genius, or truly excellent at Maths, your ability will be much more important (and also more in your control) when applying for tech roles. Anyways, it doesn't matter.

I'm interested specifically in machine learning / a.i. within financial markets (particularly the crypto market) and sports in addition to web3 / DeFi finance.

Are there any consulting roles that can leverage this interest of mine?

Furthermore, how can I approach internships from this position? With banking / PE / HF, normally you aim to get a Goldman SW --> Goldman SA and then a full time role. Is there an internship that would provide merit to both tech and consulting? I will be applying to MBB/T2 Consulting / Quant spring weeks (separate internships), but I cannot be too reliant on landing those as a non-diversity. Additionally, come my third year, I will not be able to pick two.

Finally, are banking / non-quant HFs / PE internships of any use for either?

Ideally, I would like to move to Dubai/US/Switzerland after graduating (or after a few years working in the UK) long term.
