McK Prob Solv Test
Hello all,
Need to take one of the above soon. Any info on what kind of math concepts they might throw at you? My info thus far is that its basic math and algebra that you apply to answer qs based on case facts they give you.
Somehow I just think McK might put in stuff thats more complex. I recall seeing discussions in this forum about people having to solve multiple equations to figure the vals of multiple unknown variable values and having to deal with probabilities on a fairly frequent basis. While I can imagine that may be the case in the actual case interviews, just wanted to know how hot and heavy it gets for the initial test itself.
Needless to say, any info would be greatly appreciated.
systems of equations shouldn't be that big deal...
personally i think i'd bomb the case interviews.
All questions that I received were in the context of a case interview. Aside from having to do a few calcs in your head "on the fly", the math really wasn't that bad - particularly during the early rounds.
yeah i'll concur with what has been said. you'll just have to use basic math to solve problems...like a fairly complex and detailed word problem.
Thanks guys (or gals as you may be). Much appreciated. Any additional info anyone has to offer is welcome.
Well, i managed to get a few sample questions from one of the recent tests and it seemed quite straightforward. So my question is, do they use it as a screening device to further weed down the first round interview list, or do they just use the scores as one more metric alongside first round performance to determine who gets second round invites? Again, thanks in advance for any info.
hayabusa: would you mind sharing the sample questions with us? thanks.
PM
Hi hayabusa, would you mind PM me the questions as well. Many thanks!
Pm please! Thank you soo much!
Done
I thought I'd add some details in case anyone has to take this.
All questions pertained to reading data & making calculations from graphs and charts. Very similar to a psychometric test I've taken, if anyone has any experience with that. Subjects were business-based questions (revenue, costs, etc), currencies and population-specific questions. 21 questions, 21 minutes.
Thanks for the info. Appreciated.
You only need to know arithmetic and basic stats for the PST. Also, I don't think it's a huge consideration factor. I took it recently, only answered 22 of 26 questions, and am now in the final round of interviews for an analyst position at McK.
PS - Most of the recruiters will send you a full practice test if you ask for one.
Strange, I've never heard of these pencil + paper tests. Where in the recruiting process are they given (i.e. before first rounds?)
charlie, you're in final rounds now? Are you an experienced/off-season applicant?
I'm technically an "experienced" applicant - I graduated last December and have about 8 months work experience.
Hey Charlie, sent a PM to you. Thanks.
Hayabusa,
could you please PM me as well?
could you also PM me? Thanks!!
could you also PM me? thanks!
could you also PM me? thanks!
Long division.
charlie - good luck! let us know how it turns out.
I received an early B.A. interview from McK, but it was schedule for first week of September. wasn't aware people were getting final rounds THIS early...
also, what is this McK prob solving test? do US applicants take it? why haven't i heard of it...
