Regular Deloitte to Monitor Deloitte How to pivot over? Canadian Office

I am currently a consultant in Deloitte Canada, In the core business operations practice. Does anyone have any advice how I can make the pivot over from regular Deloitte into monitor, any advice you have?

PS: I have a friend from Deloitte Financial Advisory that would also like to pivot into Monitor Deloitte, is there any hope for either of us?

Thank you

first off, replace your username with something that doesn't give away your true information. Second off, it is possible, but it depends on several external factors. I'll dive into it in my second comment.

When pivoting from one team internally to another, it really depends on the demand of that team. If they're at capacity with their client engagements, you won't have a spot to join, if they require a specific skillset or knowledge base, you'll need to prove to the team that you possess that.

What Can You Do Right Now - you can reach out to people within Monitor, get an understanding of their current engagements, the sub-teams within Monitor, what's in the pipeline and the technical skills or knowledge base that they have/developed. This lets you create a first impression and express your interest in joining. If you form a great relationship with a few people, they may even hit you up when a role opens that you may qualify for.

What You Can Do In The Future - once you've demonstrated that you're an asset in your current role, you may want to speak to your manager/boss about taking on work that's close to Monitor; it depends on how fluid the workstream is in Deloitte, but in other T2s, even though there's a designated team, there is some flexibility in pursuing clients/work of interest after 3-6 months at the firm.

Thank you so much for your reply, and first of no worries this username is my Warcraft name not my actual name in Deloitte.

Onto the topic, I fear that a lot of senior manager /director/partners will not like the fact that you tell them you’re in another service line, in case I do a bad job or under perform they might feel that I wasn’t focused enough in my own engagements.

That being said, I want to be really careful with my pivot and if and only if I have confirmation that I offer value to the other team and they absolutely want me, then I would let people on my team know.

That being said, are there similar practices to monitor Deloitte at the other firms? Pwc, ey , and KPMG. After LinkedIn stalking EY people in Canada for a bit, I see a bunch of people with the title “strategy & transactions consultant” not sure whether that is actually a pure strategy offering…
