Summer internship with MBB in Europe or with Tier2 in the US?

Hey everyone,

so I didn't make a cut into the summer 2021 internship with MBB in the US but still good and have good chances for Tier2 consulting strategy arms. Should I concentrate on those or try to get into MBB in Europe? I have US citizenship plus Polish too. I speak the language and can get into its Warsaw office. I talked to folks in that office and they were very interested. Which one would look more favorable for the full-time MBB application when I apply next summer: MBB office in Europe or Tier2 strategy arm of Big4/Accenture/etc? My long term is to stay in the US. Not that excited about Europe but can deal with the summer there. Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

From MBB folks I've heard that I need to decide on where I want to live and what city will make me bhappy[/b]. I understand that even if I do an internship with MBB in Poland then I will have to reapply for full-time positions in the US vs working in Tier2 consulting and working with companies in the US.

If you can work at a bigger EU office (London, Paris, ...), then I would choose that over Tier 2 in the US. If your only option is a smaller MBB office, then I would choose Tier 2 (assuming you want to work in the US long term).

Since you're a US citizen I would put the EU MBB higher (even for smaller offices). You can always spin it as a nice international experience in addition to brand recognition.

Not true, offices in more nascent markets usually do more interesting work than large, established offices

It's 12,000-14,000 PLN gross in MBB offices during the internships in Warsaw, which translates into ca. 2,5k EUR/USD. The payrise is later +2k on Asso, up to 18-22k on senior asso and 36-40k on Consultant.

But Warsaw is a LCOL area so the money can buy more. And if people convert into AC/BA/Associate, they do mostly international project (CEE, Middle East) and can relatively easily transfer to western offices or do a good MBA in the West (M7 MBA, Insead, LBS). Pretty nice deal.

Can't you focus on both? Anyways, I think Warsaw is a nicer opportunity if you get an offer. Tons of US companies have offices in that booming city. Better to be the Poland guy than yet another grey mouse.
