im so confused too - like it says Lending management group but I am confused if I can do legit M&A. idk - what do you think?
had a close friend work at SMBC - can tell you that CIBC is solely corporate banking with an investment banking title slapped on it for some reason.
the true investment banking division at SMBC is the M&A group but they have little to no deal flow and poor culture, all pitching

I'm sure corporate banking at a BB would be an easier move to a BB --- if I were you I would keep reaching out to alum in case you can find another internship in IB or CB at a BB if some intern reneges
don't get me wrong, it's a good corp banking internship, but it's not IB at all
