Exit opps for Finance rotation/ Corp Development straight out of college?

I have two full-time options for after graduation. One is with a Valuations team at a Big4, and another with a tech company in a rotation program that includes corporate development. Since both careers seem interesting to me, I’m wondering which one would provide better exit opps in the future.

thank you!

Most Helpful

Valuations:

— have seen exits to BB after 1 year (fill in exiting analysts)

— have seen a few PE exits

— easily go into a valuation role at a VC/PE company

— Had a lateral hire in my class that was pretty technically sound vs another later hire who came from a CorpFin background

CorpDev:

— check out the type of deals the company is doing

— I would think large tech like Cisco / PE owned companies like Genesys do interesting deals

— understand if company is acquiring LMM/MM revenue generating companys vs technological acquisitions

— really dependent on stage of company — I feel like the more acquisitive larger cos (Salesforce, Cisco, IBM, Adobe, Bill.com) have a steady stream of banking VP/Directors hopping back and forth — giving more opportunity to network and enter a BB.

PE/Banking —> Valuation (or mature co CorpDev)

Strategy/BizOps/FP&A —> CorpDev
