Hi guys, I'm a 1st year analyst at a boutique IB in SF starting work next week - I work corpfin not IB tho. To all of you older members (3-5+ years of experience), what are a few pieces of advice that you would tell your newly graduated self before beginning work?

- Never stop relationship building. Whether you stay in industry and move up or move elsewhere, so much of your career direction will be determined and helped by your network - Nobody respects a pushover. Consistently and VERY respectfully, set boundaries. I don't mean "I don't work on weekends" type boundaries, but the kind where you don't allow (again respectfully) people to shit and step all over you. You'll deal with more politics and ego management as you move up, doesn't hurt to get in the practice early - Never stop learning. Read, stay on top of current events, markets, deals etc.
