Exit options from Top 3 Rating agency?
Contemplating a move from a top rating agency after 2 years. Any ideas for what's next? Experience is mainly in ABS and RMBS transactions.
Many thanks

Hey there,
Based on the most helpful WSO content, there are several exit options you might consider after gaining experience at a top rating agency.
1) LevFin BB's: Leveraged Finance at Bulge Bracket banks is a common exit path. Your experience in ABS and RMBS transactions would be highly valued here.
2) Direct Lending shops: Particularly in the high yield/acquisition finance space, your skills and experience could be a great fit.
3) Credit Hedge Fund: If you're interested in the buy-side, a credit hedge fund could be a good option.
4) Mid-Market PE shops: While not as common, some have made the move to mid-market Private Equity firms.
5) Equity Research: This is often seen as the most logical next step, especially if you've developed strong analytical skills.
Remember, the key is to leverage the skills and experience you've gained at the rating agency, such as credit analysis, cash flow modelling, and sensitivity analysis. These are highly transferable and sought after in the finance industry.
Hope this helps and best of luck with your next move!

Most of the analysts on our structured finance desk are from rating agencies. Mainly ABS focused, though I think a few have mortgage-backed backgrounds
