Do I need an 86/87 for ER?
Title kinda says it. There isn't much transparency about what exactly I need to do to get a job in equity research. I'm not opposed to getting something like a CFA, but I'd rather spend my time on other things if those other things will be a better use of my time and effort. I'm coming from a target, so what licenses do I officially need to do and will employers handle them for me? Thanks all
You can only take the SIE without sponsorship from a bank. Yes you’ll need both 86/87 but can’t take them without employment
Oh ok thanks for the notice. I did read somewhere that you need to have one of the earlier series(ie. series 7) as a prereq before you can take the 86/87 but that was just one source. Honestly it would be great if there was just one source that had everything laid out. Thanks
Yea you need SIE and Series 7 before taking the other 3 tests.
and, to be clear, the 7 works the same as the 86/86 where your employer has to put you forward to take it after you start
Not sure if things changed but I did not need the 7 to take the 86/87 less than 5 years ago
