ER salary/tenure structure
Hi all,
IBD has a very structured analyst and associate program (2 yr as Analyst and 3 yr as Associate) and post-MBA students are joining IBD as 1st year Associate.
How about Equity Research shops (both EB and BB)? Do they have a similar structure?
Also, I wonder how much a post-MBA student earns right after joining an ER dept.
Thx!

Much less structured and depends on the bank you're at. For me (boutique), it's largely dependent on how the sales force views you and the director of research. Some people can make VP from Associate in as few as 2 years. Some take as long as 5 or 6. Largely dependent on how you can interact with clients and convey your idea to sales.
Pay is largely dependent on bank, sector, and if your analyst is good or not.
Understood but how much I can make if I join ER at BB or EB post-MBA?
if i were you, id expect ~175 total comp. depending on experience before MBA and what sector you're in.
Depending on the sector, there’s a lot of demand for associates and firm hopping seems to be the best way to get pay bumps / promotions
for which sectors is this true (outside of biotech, healthcare since they are most obvious). I believe you, just curious
