Laid off after bad performance review in Equity Research

If a person gets laid off after a bad performance review in Equity Research, does that mean they could have the opportunity to work in another division of the company or do people usually just get the boot? An analyst on another team who was laid off for performance says people can internally transfer post layoffs but I don't know, any one have any thoughts or knowledge about this?

Not sure what you're asking. Are you saying if you're working at UBS Equity Research but got the boot, are you asking if they'd decide to see if you were desperate enough to fill some role in some Jersey City location?

Yeah something like that - does that happen / has anyone seen anyone make a job change with similar circumstances? I would've just imagined people get booted and go elsewhere
