Backpack vs. Bag
Going to be interning in NYC this summer. Wondering what I should use to carry my shit to the office? Is a decent looking backpack alright? Or should I spend some money and buy a messenger/laptop bag?
Thanks

Opinions on this will be mixed, so I suppose it doesn't really matter, but anytime I see someone in a suit wearing a backpack I chuckle to myself.
bag. your bank should provide.
They should give you a bag on your first day, which will do the trick during your internship assuming it is not horrendous (e.g. dark grey nylon Targus with neon green highlights that some intern received from my firm).
There is so much gear in garish colors from brands retired by my current firm that people wear in the office that it's amazing. I generally think that people wear it as a point of pride when either A) not seeing clients and signaling seniority to coworkers, or B) seeing clients inquiring about funds developed by the given predecessor firm. The ultimate response to "you didn't develop this product, you bought it." is to flash the gear and say something along the lines of "They acquired my expertise along with the product."
Edit: I am not immune from this trend.
You S your D whichever way you can!
Briggs and Riley make great work appropriate bags and have an awesome warranty. Way better quality than Tumi etc...
The leather one is definitely work appropriate and fits a ridiculous amount of stuff. Use it to travel all the time with my laptop.
Dude no one cares. Carry your shit in in a backpack, bag, or burlap sack - no one gives a shit. Backpack and suit are fine, you aren't an MD or anything and its easy and practical. Worry about the bigger shit
