Hesitating between 2 watches

Hey guys,
I've been wanting to buy an automatic watch for a few months now and am hesitating between the two following models:

http://www.longines.com/watches/la-grande-classique-de-longines/L4.708…
http://www.junghans.de/en/junghans-collection/watches/maxbill/maxbill-m…

What's important to me is that the watch be slim and not wide (I have a girlish wrist) and budgetwise, I'd like to spend c. 1000 euros (1300 USD).

Which do you prefer and do you have other suggestions?

JJ

Second one is cooler, but I have seen way better (looking, at least) watches in that price range - can't think of specific examples but I think you're doing yourself a disservice by not looking further. Search watch threads on WSO - there are plenty of good suggestions.

I'm somewhat of a Swiss watch snob, so I vote for the first. Longines is a good brand too. Can't think of a slim automatic in that price range, as I prefer the big watches and rarely look for slim watches (the only one that comes to mind is the Patek Calatrava, but that's outside your price range).

Hey,

wrist size would be a good hint to know which size would fit you best. IMO you should consider Union Glashütte watches. They have at least the same build quality as the Longines has but are slightly more expensive, Frederique Constant is another swiss manufacturer with great watches. But I have to admit that I really like Longines watches too. A cheaper alternative also from the Swatch Co (where Longines belongs to) is Tissot, which have almost the same Automatic movements and also some nice and classy watches

In the end it is your choice...

Not sure about the exact size of my wrist, but think almost lady like, as in a thick watch wouldnt suit me at all. I think Im gonna go with the longines as it combines everything Im looking for. The Union Glashütte look a bit too thick I like frederic constant and especially their Slimline moonphase model which looks really cool but then again, too big for me I think. The more classic models by FC dont look as good as the Longines IMO

I would go for the La Grande Classique de Longines. Classic and Chic. The Junghans looks nerdy. I worked with tech entrepreneurs who wore them.

Definitely Max Bill. The Longines looks boring to me. While I like the brand, I don't think that this particular model is worth buying. If you have the patience to save a little bit more I'd suggest you to check out NOMOS. They offer more or less in-house movements and have a very good reputation among watch afficionados.

Personally I love the Nomos Club, but I suppose it would be too flashy for you. They have more discrete models, in various sizes. I'd also not rule out manual winds if I was in your shoes. There is something special about them... with the morning ritual of winding em up, you develop an even closer connection...

Weighing in here, I like the second one better. There was one with a black strap and black face in that link that looked nice as well.
