Long hair for a guy in IB?

I'll be starting as an analyst at a west coast, upper-MM bank soon. I've had long hair since the start of covid basically, and these days I keep it tied back in a low man bun. I worked at a different place as SA last year and I did kinda feel like it set me apart from the other interns and analysts. No one really seemed to mind and I got a few compliments on my hairstyle but I did get some curious looks from senior level employees at times.

Since I'm starting at a new place I want to make a good first impression. Do you guys think it would make any difference having long hair? Or would I be better off safe and cutting it shorter? My dad (works finance in NY) has been pushing me to cut it because he's worried about the stigma from older people. I personally think long hair makes me look good (and my girlfriend likes it too). It is the west coast but I don't think I've met a single male analyst with long hair. Am I just overthinking it?

If you already have the job, I'd say you're just overthinking it. Not at a BB, but one of our MD's on the West Coast has long hair past his shoulders. Just be professional, do good work, and don't stress about it.

I grew mine out over COVID, but cut it off when interviewing because all things being equal, I didn't want to lose out on a position due to looking unprofessional.

I have curly long hair, use a small man bun for interviews and when I'm at work during the day if it gets messy for a crisper look. Mostly, nobody will care at all if you do a good job and are sociable and generally kill all the other aspects.
