AM PM -> HF

Any examples of portfolio managers at the big firms (Fidelity, Wellington, T Rowe) starting their own funds? I’m assuming the path of least resistance is to follow the hedge fund structure but could be wrong.

I’m not enjoying the pod life as much as I’d hoped and am considering trying to go for an analyst spot at one of large LO firms. Have always entertained the idea of starting my own L/S SM fund someday. Something like the original Tiger. Want to preserve this option.
