DE Shaw Interview

I just got a DE Shaw Interview for investment management summer 2025 but I don't know much about the Hedge Fund space. For context im undergrad at a target school and ive been looking more towards IB to then exit to the buy-side, but this could be a great opportunity to go directly to the buy side.

Any tips on what I should expect from my first round interview, what I should look into, and if I have a shot at landing the job at all? (I have no experience with quant and I have barely done any networking for DE Shaw)

That's what I want to do but idk much about what to expect. For a first round is it behavioral or technical and do you know how these differ from traditional IB roles?

Investment Management is not their traditional hedge fund team. It is their AM arm and the role is primarily analytics and portfolio strategy. Their main hedge fund team falls under Fundamental Research. Just FYI.

Thank you for reaching out! I'm currently at the first round - 30 min video interview - I'm wondering what kinds of questions they will ask here. I was also told that the next round would be a case study, if you could share any insights into that as well. Very grateful for your help!
