London to NY transition - Best Headhunters

Hey fellas,

First time posting after (many) years reading crazy stories and discussions in this website - I have learnt more about jobs and careers here than anywhere else in the world. I hope you can help me one more time.

My situation is as follows. I have been working in the London office of a US hedge fund (c. $5 - 15bn AUM) for c. 2 years after 3 years doing investment banking. It has always been a dream for me to work for some time in NY so I am starting to push for it within my company.

I am not sure if it is going to work or not so I need to start thinking about alternatives, the most obvious one being getting in touch with HHs that have mandates that could fit my profile and would be open to talk to non-US candidates.

In my fund we do both public and private deals in equity and credit, and I do not have a strong preference for one or the other, so I am quite flexible with the strategy of the fund I would join although something in the special sits hedge fund space would be the ideal (although again, priority number 1 is moving to NY).

Any HH companies / specific headhunters I should get in touch with? I guess it is a tough move given lack of visa, very limited knowledge of the US market...etc but I just wanted to give it a try. I guess my only advantage vs. US candidates is that I speak Spanish and know the LatAm market quite well which most of the times is covered from NY.

Hey, many thanks for the reply. I was 3 years at a US BB so I guess that qualifies as reputable... Will reach the guys you mention, truly helpful, many thanks!

Please let us know what they say. I suspect they won’t give you much time of day but hopefully your experience is otherwise.
