Matrix Capital Management - info, insights, headhunter etc.

Hey all - anyone have any insight into Matrix Capital besides the sparse publicly available stuff? They seem to be a ~$8bn long biased long/short TMT focused equities hedge fund. However judging by LinkedIn, they're unique in this category for hiring a ton of people straight out of college (whereas most SM large funds take 2+2 PE as their main candidate) as well as a bunch of summer interns in college. They don't seem to care much for prior traditional finance experience either relative to other SM hedge funds.

Very interested to learn more about them and their methodology/mandate as it seems more unique than other long biased Tiger cub shops. And they've crushed performance it seems getting to $8bn from $1.6bn back in 2013. Looks like one lucky MIT guy rode that wave up and got promoted to Managing Director literally 3 years after graduating college. I'm sure compensation at this shop is insane as AUM per IP is >$600mm, but if anyone has more insight, please do share on all the usual data points - culture, comp, turnover/hiring, internal structure/setup, investment philosophy/mandate, performance etc.

Re: offices - seems like aside from their Waltham MA HQ, they have sizable groups in NY and Palo Alto.

Also - given their unique hiring focus, does anyone know if they use the usual finance headhunters suspects like Dynamics/SearchOne/Henkel etc, for folks already in the industry?

I don't know about their hiring processes for those with work experience, but it seems that their undergrad recruiting is heavily skewed towards members of Global Platinum Securities and Black Diamond. Which is to say that they take the best of the best undergrad candidates who are competitive for MFPE and other similar roles.
