Sales at a Hedge Fund
Does anyone here work in sales at a hedge fund or know of anyone who works in such a role? In the scheme of things pay wise, where do they fit? It seems to me that they're a revenue generating part of the business (firm can't generate profit if they don't have AUM) so are there are any guys who work in sales at a fund that are doing really well financially?
Or is it just the guys who do it independently as third party marketers who can work with a number of hedge funds at one time and can therefore participate in the upside a little better i.e. not be burdened by working for one single manager who may go through periods where the strategy is not en vogue, not fashionable or go through periods of bad performance and will find it hard to raise assets.
Bump
Cold calling
it generally is done by a third party. However, a lot of funds round up the majority of AUM themselves.
Investor relations, but you better be an attractive woman
Not really sales, more so labeled as investor relations/marketing
Investor Relations, Third Party Marketing, Cap Intro (Prime Brokerage)
Works @ hedge funds, works for 3rd party, works for Bank/Broker
Interesting how there seems to be very little info on this career path such as comp etc.
bump.
