You know he closed down Duquesne Capital, right? http://www.hedgetracker.com/article/Stanley-Druckenmiller-prepares-to-c…
Fortunately for job seekers, some of Druckenmiller's top lieutenants have recently launched their own shops: Harbor Bridge Emerging Markets http://www.hedgetracker.com/fund/Harbor-Bridge-Emerging-Markets PointState Capital http://www.hedgetracker.com/fund/PointState-Capital
^^^^ He stated he was frustrated how he "miss called" the 2010 bond market. Pride and 30 straight winning years must of worn on him...Nobody knows but him. He is probably just giving back outside money and trading is own.
The book "More Money Than God" - which is exceptionally interesting and informative, at least once you get past the first bit which is somewhat more bland - makes a strong case for Druckenmiller being a truly genius investor... it seems he'd have been even more successful in his early years managing Quantum for Soros had Soros' sense of philanthropy / need to feel like a good person not gotten in the way... the book paints Druckenmiller as sort of a combination threat unlike any other HF investor... pretty baller.
I'll have to check out that book, sounds pretty interesting.
One awesome thing about that AR/Alpha article is how candid it is about fund organization, comp, turnover, etc. I feel like you couldn't write an article like that about a major fund these days because hedge funds have become so heavily scrutinzed and coverage has gotten so political versus 2006.
Great find Jorge. Bessent considers Druckenmiller the perfect synthesis of a trader and an analyst in Inside the House of Money.
Druckenmiller is an absolute G! His profile in New Market Wizards is fairly decent too.
@GoodBread, I also recall him calling Druckenmiller "A Money Making Machine." The man's a legend.
@Kenny, Yeah dude, that's exactly why I posted it. Its pretty hard to find stuff like these nowadays and the insight into Duquesne the article had was very illuminating.
Co-sign on Inside the House of Money, you'd actually see that Soros was more of a detriment to Quantum at times rather than the God most make him out to be.
@etrain, Yeah, his profile in NMW is one of my favorites. Hoping that Schwager or Drobny can get a hold of him for another book.
