Value Invest and Event Driven Investing

Can you be a value investor and utilize an event-driven investing strategy?

As far as I know, these two are two investing strategies. Though they are two different strategies, I've seen people going around saying they take a value approach towards event-driven investing...does this make sense?

Thanks.

A lot of value investing is event driven-i make 90% of my investments in event driven situations and consider myself a hardcore value investor. Read "You can be a stock market genius" by greenblatt and anything on distressed/bankruptcy investing.
