Breaking into IB/Consulting with life sciences and sales background
First time posting here,
I'm looking to get into boutique M&A IB or Consulting for life sciences without much expertise. I graduated Cum Laude in 2018 from a good state school in the South with plans of going to med school. I decided not to pursue that route without regret, but was left lacking in job prospects. I accepted a position out of school in a Fortune 50 tech sales program and have been doing that for a year and a half. I was a college athlete on scholarship and I love the competitive nature of sales, but I'm not sure if it's sustainable long-term (i.e. lots of dinners with field reps in their mid-40's who are divorced and travel too much to have any family life).
I'm very curious to get into more of an analyst role for life sciences/pharma given my studies and internships in those areas. I've taken business fundamental classes online and read many suggested books (Intelligent Investor, Random Walk Down Wall Street, Too Big Too Fail, etc). I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a financial modeling course (probably Wall Street Prep) but am interested to hear what advice users may have for networking, skills needed, and interview tips without a Finance degree or Big Bulge internship to speak about.
