Counter offer (US relocation) vs. career boost
Hi all. I am currently working in Chile as a project finance associate. The company I work for is well recognized within the infrastructure/energy sector.
I have a dilemma - I am not happy in Chile (I am European and have been living for a few years in the country). The culture in the company I work for is good and my boss is great but I don’t like the work I am doing. 90% of my time I am dedicating to financial modelling, which is very repetitive and I am bored.
I received an offer from a top player (worldwide) to become a project finance manager, which would be a fast track of my career path (I have a bit more than 3 years of experience).
In the new company I wouldn’t be responsible for models anymore - I would have much mire exposure and would be executing deals.
My current company made a counter offer, and offered me an L1 executive visa (express) for a relocation to the headquarters in Miami. Pay would be matched with the other offer (slightly less base but more bonus % - including bonus it’s more or less the same). Cost of living is higher in Miami.
I am tempted to accept the offer to relocate but on the other hand I am thinking of accepting the offer with the company in Chile and then relocate to Europe on my own with a more senior position.
I am worried that if I accept the offer with my current company that I am tied to them for more years doing modelling because of the L1 visa.
Any thoughts on this? I have been thinking for several days and I have to decide over the weekend and can’t think of any other pros and cons.

What’s your location preference? Do u want a few years of US experience before moving to Europe?
My main goal is to transition away from Chile sooner than later. A few years US experience would be great before relocating to Europe.
On the other hand - with the job I could start in Chile I could apply to senior positions in Europe after a year or so.
Feel like us to europe seems like a better option because 1) you get the US stamp on your resume and 2) can get out of chile asap and 3) miami is fun
How much weights the US stamp in Europe? I feel like people in Europe don’t really care
