FTSE 100 Corp Strategy Compensation Expectations? London

hey, I'm an IBD Senior Associate in London at a pretty decent MM IB.

Current salary: GBP 140k
Bonuses: this year I got GBP 150k despite market conditions.. M&A was smashing fees for us we actually almost broke our record year in 2022 and had a couple of Associates resign to join BBs so perhaps they paid us well to retain us so I'm pretty happy.

Total comp: around GBP 290k

I've decided to make a switch and interviewing for a Senior Associate Strategy role at one of the largest FTSE 100 companies and they've asked me what salary I would like. Now I know that corporate development and strategy pay lower than IBD but it would be great if someone could provide some insight into what I could expect and what would be reasonable to ask for in London? thanks

Also if anyone works in corp strategy or similar at a FTSE 100 in London, we can DM and I can tell you the name of the company and more details for your advice. thanks

it depends on the precise role (corporate strategy vs corporate development) and the complexity of the sector (eg is it pharma, o&g, energy or mining) - if its m&a focused corp dev at eg one of the above sectors they may be willing to pay the equiv of tier2/3 ib base salary of like 90/100k

wtf?? i feel sick thinking about going from £290 to big4 £70k??

Lol. There are literally CFOs in the UK of medium-sized companies who get paid £200k.

I am quite surprised it is this low. I thought at least it would be comparable to MBA grads in UK with ~GBP100k all in.

How does these jobs compare with typical non-MBB/IB jobs LBS MBA grads get in terms of pay and career trajectory? Would it be better to do an MBA and join a FTSE100 as LDP grads rather than being a corp strat / corp dev specialist and pigeonholing your career with 70k GBP
