Highest hourly rate job in finance
Slaving away in IB gets you pretty close to minimum wage when you have a bad bonus year. Are there better options in finance with much higher hourly rates and decent work life balance? Is equity research or IR, a hidden gem?
Equity research ends up being pretty long hours - just more predictable. It can be solid 70+ hour weeks for a 6+ week earnings season... so basically half the year
IR is high on the balance of WLB/interesting/pay, a big discount to something like IB or PE but hard to beat for a 9-5. Also asset management and higher-up parts of real estate (junior pay is trash but seniors do well and work few hours)
OnlyFans crypto influencers who recommend picks while shoving household items in their assholes - if that qualifies as “finance”.
Meh, sounds like higher quality experience than VC at least
Quant/data science/dev/algo
LO AM at the senior levels for sure, especially at partnerships like Wellington. Junior level quant HF.
That dude on here in private credit making $400k for 0-20 hours a week.
