Near impossible in US offices w/o a MBA (more so than any other firm from stories I've heard). Unsure about overseas.

Mate you’ve made about 10 threads on the topic of staying at GS BO or moving to that M&A boutique. The answers you receive won’t change:

  • You will not be able to go BO > FO at Goldman
  • M&A experience will open the door for you

Just take the job and stop stressing about it. If you overanalyse everything like this then you’re going to fail in the industry anyway, so I suggest you work on your mindset.

Thanks a lot :) had few senior VPs telling me to stay and move internally in few years instead of leaving now. So I wanted to understand about it and ask around. Appreciate your input!

Obviously we don't know about your personal situation with GS (and any commitments made to you by senior staff) but absent anything rock-solid BO -> FO is infinitely less likely than Boutique -> GS

Anyway if you really want IB and you have an M&A offer what's the question here?
