Investment Banking advice

Hello everyone,

I am an incoming student at a target school in the US, and I am keen on ib/vc and pe and hf, AM does seem an option but not ideal(smaller salaries). I am looking for advice as I am international student, and adding the fact that i am from Russia, things are not looking good even for internships, not even talking about visa sponsorships for companies later on.

Furthermore, any advice on what departments to look at in IB, I am plannign on doing econ, my only issue is that i do not want to be loaded up with too many clients and too much maths, what advice have you got, sales and trading? and M and A?
