LBS MFA worth £45k?
Got an offer for this programme. It costs £44,800 though. Is it worth it?Do you guys see LBS as a prestigious school? Would appreciate any insights

LBS is a top target masters school

If you have a BB internship why are you doing a masters?
I had an admission from LBS also last year and ditched it cause I couldn't afford it, went to another school in Europe that's target but now kinda regret it. LBS is the goat of master programs in Europe from recruiting perspective. I'd say go for it but I still cant see why you want the masters tbh
Sharing my stats cause I also got admitted last year. GMAT 690 & CFA L1 (they take one normally but if you get both they consider it complementary). GPA 3.35. Work experience in big 4 valuation & modelling
I have a very similar background, and was hoping you could answer a few questions. How did you find recruiting with that background? Did you get any ib interviews? Did the valuations experience count for much? I don’t have any ib internships so was wondering if it’s worth doing the masters to try break in
Didn't go to LBS MFA but I know my friends did. Very good school as LBS name itself is top tier in UK for business. For continental Europe and London recruiting, it is very good.
It focuses more on getting the job and networking compared to other theoretical masters like in Oxford MFinEcon/LSE/Imperial.
You can connect on linkedin with some of the alumnis and ask them what they feel like.

It’s good from a recruiting perspective but probably not worth the money if you successfully convert your summer.
I went there myself and was in the same position as you and had a good offer in hand before I started. In hindsight I wish I had taken the money and spent it on a gap year doing something cool. Most of the syllabus is pretty basic and you’ll probably learn more from your internship, hence all of the hours spent on classes, homework etc. felt like a waste of time.
Hey I too am planning to apply to LBS MFA, could you let us know about your GMAT, GPA, Extra curriculars stats? And how it felt with LBS MFA is it really worth it?
If you have a good summer internship, >700 GMAT and GPA equivalent of a 2.1 then you should be fine tbh. You can look through past yearbooks to see what the typical profile of admits is like.
It's worth it if you need a job in finance / consulting and haven't locked one down yet.
LBS alum here. If you have a BB internship that’s going to be as strong if not a stronger platform for subsequent recruiting compared to a MFA. Bear in mind an LBS MFA is less well-regarded than the MBA (hence why every year you have MFA students adding “MBA equivalent” to their LinkedIn profiles)
From what I have heard and the research I did prior to accepting the offer (I am an incoming MFA student), this is just not true for IB. I understand that the MFA recruits better into IB than the MBA as in London the MBA->Associate path is not common.
Also, have never seen anyone put MBA equivalent on their LinkedIn profile.
I imagine we can guess which program you attended...
Lol in my year I'm aware of one MFA who made it into IB. The rest of the LBS intake were all MBAs. That's with each BB taking 5-6 hires.And yes, bc the school sent out a notice instructing MFA students to remove the misleading mentions.Not saying it can't be done - GL.

I have confidence in myself, I turned down a MM boutique FT offer to pursue this BB internship. But I think it would be a bad idea to go into an internship after my graduation without having a plan in case I don't convert. Wouldn't you agree?
No. I’ve seen several graduate (masters and undergrad) then go onto secure an FT offer a few months post-graduation.
You’ve landed a BB internship offer, and a previous FT offer. You can do it again.
London return offer rates are wildly variable- last 2 years (ik it’s a recession but still) have seen some BB return offer rates be as low as 30-40%
LBS is a top school. However, be aware that in London there is a massive mismatch between master students and positions in IB for master students.
90% of spots at BB, EB, and most MM firms are filled with summer interns (those who are doing an internship at the end of their penultimate year of undergrad). The spots available for master students are minimal (off-cycle internships, and some FT).
If you want to have a good shot you better have some internship experience before your master, otherwise your chances are very low. LBS is top but you will compete against your peers from LBS, LSE, Imperial, UCL, Oxbridge, HEC Paris, ESSEC, IE, Bocconi, ESADE...
