Moelis Analyst Program
I heard that ppl at Moelis work on both M&A and RSSG – is this true at the analyst level regardless of what group you're in (I'm assuming ppl specialize at the more senior lvls)? I'm interested for FT Moelis 2025, and I heard there are both group-specific processes and generalist processes.
Moelis' analyst program in LA is generalist, so you would do both M&A and RX, theoretically. Realistically, your exposure to RX in LA is quite small as most of the RX is done in NY.
In NY, you join as a generalist, but go through a placement process and if you're lucky, you can get placed in their RX team. I'd also mention that RSSG is the name of PJT's Restructuring and Special Situations Group and is not an industry-wide acronym that Moelis or most other banks use.
Thanks so much for the info! So for NY, I'll only need to know rx concepts if going through a generalist processes and not for group-specific processes? Like for C&R, TMT, Energy, HC, etc teams, they will focus on M&A only like most other banks as they have their own rx team?
That would make sense if this is for an M&A specific team at Moelis NY, but I don't work there so can't confirm. Good luck!
