Most Prestigious Non-Material Based Status Symbols

I for one am tired of dumb threads, ranking the prestige of material items like watches, cars and real estate.

The truth is that elite prestige is something that money cannot buy (talking to you tech nerds and quants). I will get us started here, a little whetting of the pallet you could say:

-Glowing tan in the winter

-Hot gf

-Related to royalty (if from UK)

-Direct bloodline to president (if US)

-Refined mannerisms

-Being able to talk to adults from a young age

-All your siblings and parents are hot (royal flush)

-Hella passport stamps

-Internet trolling

>I for one am tired of dumb threads, ranking the prestige of material items like watches, cars and real estate.
well congrats, you managed to make a thread even worse than those. Touch grass gay boy

Rachel from Suits is now royalty.

Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry:

-

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Proof even Princes can be simps.

"The obedient always think of themselves as virtuous rather than cowardly" - Robert A. Wilson | "If you don't have any enemies in life you have never stood up for anything" - Winston Churchill | "It's a testament to the sheer belligerence of the profession that people would rather argue about the 'risk-adjusted returns' of using inferior tooth cleaning methods." - kellycriterion

To expand on the hot gf one, I'd say the true prestige is winning her over by being a funny dude.

Like yeah, be a gentleman, spoil her (not too much), come off as cool, etc., but when you land a woman by just being yourself and the fact you are so damn likable just as yourself, it's truly prestigious.

Controversial

-Being liberal, specifically, becoming so rich you get dillilusioned with money entirely, give it all to philanthropy and start examining the Euro socialism model because at this point there is nothing left for you to achieve and all you can think of is eh, what if we give it to the poor and everyone works a little less? In that sense, being liberal as a UHNW individual is prestigious AF.

-Using GPS coordinates to describe your location (because you spend months at sea)

-Speaking many languages (only if they're european languages, that Hindu shit is not goated)

-"Having a guy" for everything

-Children attend Ivies. Also, having tons of children and they all have perfect blonde hair / blue eyes (WASP shit)

If you tweak the wording on the first bullet from 'nothing left for you to achieve' to 'nothing left for your parents / grand parents / great grand parents' to achieve then would agree. The self made UNHW turned socialist individual is non-existent. It is almost entirely coddled second generation+ affluent children who have internalized guilt about their place in life

Liberals don't give "all" their money to philanthropy--not at least until they're dead. Rich liberals always live wealthy lifestyles.

Take it easy on your gardener man, he doesn't get paid to work like us lol.

Side note since it's off-topic forum - if I were a service worker/home worker I would NEVER want to work for an IB guy lol. Imagine getting a picture of a spot you missed on your clients lawn at 2AM with "pls fix" written beneath

I thought equinox mgmt said that bruh

Being in shape/visible abs year round, skilled at fighting (boxing/Muay Thai/MMA etc.), low resting heart rate (under 50), old ladies smile at you. Hot GF is a good one but it’s more than looks. The quality of the woman who is with a man will tell you a lot about that guys character/value (generally)

Having successful kids also has to be up there.

What's more prestigious? A super hot girlfriend (think super model) or a super successful girlfriend (think top in her field/billionaire). For example Rihanna isn't the hottest person in the world but billionaire + goat singer is more prestigious than a random super model

I think there is a lot more to it than just how hot and successful the woman is. Loyalty, how she carries herself, how good of a mother is she, etc. If a dude has multiple kids with a beautiful, loyal woman with good values you know he’s gotta be a solid fella.

How do you quantify 'more successful'?

Educated?

Money?

Prestige of job?

Noteriety?

Lifestyle?

I imagine you are viewing this through a very simple lens (career - > money -> job in finance) but it is way more mult-faceted than that

Is someone with a PHd and recognition in their field more or less successful than a tradesman who owns his own plumbing company?

Is someone who comes from wealth and went to an Ivy to end up workign a non-profit more successful than a state school kid who made it into banking?

Is a well known New York Times best selling author more successful than an MD who makes multiples of their income?

Is a 30 year old partner at a lawfirm more successful than a 30 year old with their own successful travel blog?

Is a former olympic athlete more successful than a McKinsey consultant?

People define success in many different ways. You probably would be surprised to learn many people that you view as less successful than yourself likely view you the same way as well. If the only value you bring to a woman is your paycheck then dont be surprised either when that's all she values you for as well

I agree with supermodel but not those pushed by media or fashion design companies. There was once before media discovered racial-sentiment targeting marketing where truly beautiful women with great aesthetic figures was glorified. Even in sugardaddy platforms like sugarbook they are desired. You don't see many today's beauty standard looking girls become sugarbaby.

Specific 'things':

Europe - nobility / aristocracy bloodline + social club memberships (Whites etc)

USA - being in the Social Register + social club memberships (Somerset Club etc).

Outside of this board seats, government and University appointments etc.

Spending your nights beating the criminal underworld into vigilante justice with your bare hands

I’ve done this before. I beat a man unconscious after he tried to rob me and when the cops showed up I thought me and my bloody hands were going to jail, but it all worked out.

Got to add being fit. It is one of the few things that you cant buy with money or inheret from someone else. That said there are definitely prestige tiers in your aesthetic

Tier 1

Lean / lanky / cut muscular build from being a former college swimmer, rower, lacrosse

Tier 2

Stronger / stockier / rougher build from being former rugby player, football player, wrestler

Tier 3

Being rail thin slow heartbeat type from endurance sports - marathon running, cross country, cycling

Tier 4

Fat / strong / mass being built like a tree stump from being a power lifter. Look like shit but have highest bench numbers of anyone here. Arguably in highest tier among blue collar crowd

Tier 5

Dad bod / skinny fat / chubby / office body from sedintary lifestyle , lack of interests outside of work, and can only play an easy sport like golf (that is losing its own prestige by the day)

Tier 6

Obese

- family speaks multiple European languages, and they didn't learn it through Duolingo last week
- well-traveled (they summer at the Côte d'Azur)
- influential family members, across politics and industry
- Wives often don't work, unless she is is also in an influential career (professor, doctor, executive, ..)
(or they are free to follow their bs passion project like being an author, run a flower shop, ..)
If they in the landed gentry type of family or similar, nobody "has to tend to a regular job"
- Nanny or part-time nanny (maid, cook, staff, chauffeur, ..)
- Certain hobbies like skiing, golfing, hunting, equestrian sports ..
- Manners and table manners
- Can play a musical instrument, i.e. piano, violin, flute, ..
- Multiple citizenships
- They know how to dance in a ballroom (Waltz/slow, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep)
- Have attended cotillion (and their mom was/their sisters are debutantes)
- Different body language, classy demeanor
- More awareness of and access to health care (which often results in perfect teeth, clear skin, ..)
- Religion plays a bigger role, often Protestant or Catholic
- Legacy in ivy schools, through generations
- Accent, the right one
- A well-documented family tree that reaches long into the past
- Family crest
- A certain wardrobe, for each occasion
- They often live in different locations throughout the year
- They don't talk about money, they just have it
- They have an international circle of business contacts
- They often know of other cultures, habits, and what is expected abroad (either through training or experience)

In these families there is also an expectation to maintain standards and "not letting yourself go". So not fat/in shape, healthier food options, more sports every week, .. these families often live in certain circles with the same social class, religion, influence, race, location, culture, ...

Good examples for this class are often portrayed in media, i.e. Cruel Intentions, Gossip Girl, The O.C., Clueless, and more. While they often exaggerate in Hollywood, the baseline is very accurate.

Access...access is the most prestigious non-material thing. Access to people, places, information and things. You don't have to own Balmoral Castle, just being invited to the dinner parties and having a line to royalty is prestigious.

Type of people that travel the world and always find a place to stay or a jet/boat to travel from without forking over a dollar.

Not to be confused with Blackmail/Epstein.

No love for IQ?

Disagree. Being part of the “Prometheus Society” sounds in credibly prestigious.

If you’re part of “Mega Society” though then GTFO lmao

Should I apply for Mensa? Real talk, I always wanted to do it, but I know it means jack shit.

I qualify too and have the paperwork from a psychologist at a 132 IQ, but never really thought to become a Mensa member. Do it if it makes you happy!

IQ is cringe. Only people who care about are people who haven't accomplished anything else in life. You're IQ is what is supposed to help you accomplish things. It's like someone claiming to be a super fast runner but have zero gold medals.

Honestly this is so cringe it is hilarious. Not only can you not grasp 5th grade grammar, but you don’t understand IQ.

IQ isn’t “claiming to be a super fast runner.” IQ is having the genetic potential to be a super fast runner. Genetics play a role in academics and higher learning. You’re generally not going to attain a MD or PhD if you have a 100 IQ. Most of those people are 120 - 140 IQ level.

Optimism

The important thing is never to let oneself be guided by the opinion of one's contemporaries; to continue steadfastly on one's way without letting oneself be either defeated by failure or diverted by applause.

Would argue being able to talk to adults isn’t that prestigious. If you are an only child, most likely you can do this. As an only child, being an only child is unprestigious as fuck unless you are an heir to a baller dad/mum (e.g. king, mafia esque business etc)
