Moving from HY Sales to Deal Advisory

Hey monkeys,
I am interviewing for a position at HY Sales (I have not applied, but have been approached by the team). Is it possible to move after this position to a transaction advisory team? Or should I cut the process short and continue with my plan of a secured six month internship in a corporate finance advisory team outside the banking sector?
My biggest limitation is that I need a little push to speak more fluently the local language (I just look like a shy person because I am translating my reply) (Europe)

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's definitely possible to transition from HY Sales to a transaction advisory team. However, it might be a bit challenging as the skill sets required for both roles can be quite different. HY Sales is more about relationship management and selling, while transaction advisory is more analytical and involves due diligence, financial modeling, and other technical skills.

As for the language barrier, don't let it discourage you. It's quite common in the finance industry to work in a second language. The key is to practice as much as possible. Maybe you could consider taking language classes or finding a language exchange partner to improve your fluency.

Regarding your internship, if it's in a field you're interested in and it's secured, it might be a safer bet. It could provide you with relevant experience that could help you transition to a transaction advisory role in the future.

Remember, these are just suggestions based on my knowledge of the industry. It's important to consider what you're most interested in and what aligns best with your long-term career goals. Good luck!
