My resume; what would you if you were me (IB)?

So what would you do at this stage to break into IB? I've considered the following options:

-Pursue the hell out of boutique or middle-market banks if the big IB's won't recruit me.
-Pursue an MSF domestically next year, and rely on alum network? If so, what are realistic options you'd consider?
-Pursue an MSF internationally next year, and try to break into international division of IB. If so, what are realistic options?
-Let things play out, work in finance for 3 more years, apply for MBA, break into IB as associate.

*Taking GMAT, but extrapolating SAT to GMAT gives me 720. Lets assume that going forward.

1) jesus- you again? 2) don't extrapolate SAT scores to GMAT scores, it is more difficult to place in higher percentile in GMAT than SAT (more competitive exam). that being said, if you are smart and good test taker, 700+ is reasonable. 3)isn't kind of late to be applying for MSFs? or are you talking about applying for Fall 2011?

do you speak another european language? do you have dual citizenship with an EU country? that would be very helpful for recruiting in Europe. the only MSF I would go to in the USA is Vanderbilt. (you probably wouldn't get into Princeton or WUSTL) 700+ GMAT and you will be competitive for several good European MScs, though i've heard that sometimes it can be difficult for non-EU residents to get finance jobs in London (don't know for sure) have you considered a masters in accounting from a texas/michigan? admissions standards are lower for these programs and top students can get interviews with investment banks.

Hi, thanks for the response. Yes, me again, though my earlier topic was specific to resume critiques. This thread is for advice. I appreciate the words.

  • Thinking about MSF for AY 2011-2012. Don't have EU citizenship, and don't speak sweedish, but I was hoping LSE would give me a shot. Kind of disheartening that I'd have a hard time placing without citizenship. I have considered Vanderbilt, and see it as a very viable option at this point.

I have not considered a MACCT, though I'll certainly look into it. I'm curious if the curriculum will cover enough aspects of finance to make it worth not getting the MSF. Any thoughts?

Also, Burkenroad is not the investment fund. Darwin Fenner is the fund, Burkenroad is simply an equity research program. Don't misrepresent stuff. That'll be an instant ding.
