So how full are the classes by now?

Hi guys and girls,

I was wondering if pretty much there are still any spots for analysts at the BBs or any MM, or boutique you might know, or is everything pretty much over? I was told by Lehman, by probably 5-6 people, that they are full, maxed out, no spaces. Also another BB told me that they are taking only kids with internship experience (meaning prior internship specifically in IBD). I have an internship at another BB but although it was under the IB division it was in hedge funds. So they said they would forward my resume to other groups, if those groups still have places.
So is recruiting over or do they take longer to respond when you are not from a target school (When I say non-target I mean I didn't find any alumni from my university in IBD)? Does anyone have a number in their head, approximately what percentage of class 2007 is already full (anything would do really)?
Thanks

if they are still interviewing that means there are still spots avialable

but if I had to guess, I'd say the BBs are at 60-70% by now...I base this on the fact that by now they finished interviewing with the target schools

what bank is that if you don't mind saying? You can PM me if you want, I'm good at keeping stuff confidential just ask anyone on here.

and do you mind telling if it filled up quickly because so many interns were extended offers or because there were so many good intervieews at target schools?

Patrick Bateman:
It is a top 5 BB, same amount of summers hired, just found really good candidates at target schools this year.

Lehman? From what I heard they really filled up fast this year with their double internship class.

This information is based on my conversations with contacts at these firms.

LEH - filled up JPM - a few groups are still interviewing ML - my contact's group is still looking for a first year analysts BSC - no longer bringing new people in for interviews

I think Patrick is referring to either GS or ML, correct?

Ok this is what I was told

Lehman - filled up Credit Suisse - filled up (not only in LA) ML - only if you have internship in IBD JPM - haven't heard anything BSC (hm who is that?) - Barclays - if , yes they told me the same thing Wachovia ( I am forgetting now but i think it was them) - 1 more super saturday GS - haven't heard form them 2 weeks ago were still interviewing MS - may still have a few spots UBS - told me they will check (so maybe still a few spots??) DB - still have a few spots I believe ( also told me they will check)

Citigroup and Banc of America - have no idea

what about boutiques, would you say they are less full than BBs?

Thanks gametheory.

Just as a clarification and not to divert the thread, if someone joins a firm during the last quarter of say 2003 are they part of the 2003 analyst class? Just trying to get the lingo down (I went straight into buyside).

Depends on how you negotiated your status. For example, I know of second year analysts from boutiques that would lateral to BB and get dropped back to 1st year. So for example if they started working in 2005, but lateraled in late 2006, they would be considered 2006 class.

The most sought after boutiques fill up just as fast if not faster than BB's. The lesser known boutiques may be waiting for fallout from the BB's. So from a percentage point of view, yes they are "less full," meaning 25% of their class may remain to be filled. From an absolute numbers standpoint, 25% could translate into 1-4 spots.

I do know of boutiques that continue to interview into early December.

An HR at CS. I was also hoping they were because this was a place I had some chance but maybe she just didn't like me much or just told me that because I am from a non-target.

I had my resume referred and got an email about a week ago saying that they will be reviewing resumes and contacting us soon.

I am from a non-target as well and have a referal. Did you just apply online?
