Summer analyst background check/onboarding timeline
I accepted a SA 24 IB offer at a large NYC bank at the end of this past summer, but I haven't heard anything from HR about when the background check/onboarding process will take place. I know the background check is usually done by a 3rd party firm, but I have yet to get any sort of outreach from something like that.
For people who have done an SA in IB recently, what does this process usually look like, and how long does it take? I looked through some older threads that described some horror stories about how long it took and the level of detail they required, but couldn't find anything recent.
Also, on my resume for "experience", I had a few academic experiences listed, like an independent study seminar, research for academic credit, etc. that were all unpaid. Since I don't have any "employment" record from these, how do I need to go about showing that I actually did these experiences? Would things like email records work? Asking this since one of the professors I worked with left the university and I've had a hard time getting back in touch with them.
Nothing to worry about as long as you didn't lie. For exact timelines, probably best to reach out to the specific firm.
In general, how deep the checks go depends on the verification provider too. Most times, they will ask for a contact to verify that you have worked there. If they are unable to contact the person, they'll normally ask for proof (Contract etc.). E-mail chains are normally not legitimate evidence, however, if you really aren't able to contact the professor involved, just submit the e-mail chain and they will probably call it a day there. (I was once in your shoes where I had to submit an email chain. Caused some confusion between me and the verification provider, but company couldn't be bothered with it lol)

Heard it starts anywhere from January to March, also signed verification letters work for unpaid experiences
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what do you mean by a "signed verification letter"?
essentially a letter from your previous manager or supervisor saying that you worked or interned for them between specific dates and what your role consisted of and on the bottom ask them to add their contact information should there be any questions
