Tips to join M&A from non-banking background

Recently I spoke at the panel regarding to China and a particular sector that I received a rather positive feedback, the partner of a boutique I-bank/M&A advisory specializing in that sector I am familiar with approached me for a meeting.

I plan to pitch myself as a perfect candidate to work for him or to work as a 'partner' even if I don't have relevant experience in M&A, and here is what I think he would be interested-
1. Understanding of the firms in that sector and existing relationships with local Chinese players and global players.
2. My sales record/relationship skills in China and outside China. (I am 34)
3. I had a master degree at LSE, though I decided to do all sort of non-banking jobs after a short stint at I-bank that can't really count.

Anything else you think I should add (relationships with PE?), or to prepare to make myself look like a good fit ?

Appreciate your input!
