Years vs. Months on Resume?
Brushing up my finance resume and wondering if I should include years or months (e.g., 2022 - 2023 vs. August 2022 - August 2023).
Do people care if your resume only shows years? If it were up to me, I'd prefer to list my experiences in the years format, as I have a short stint (~7 months) that is somewhat concealed if I present my experience in years. Understand the details of this eventually come out if HR explicitly asks / during background checks, but I'm wondering what I can do to present my experience in the most favorable light possible to avoid being screened out of any potential opportunities.
Unless you’ve got like 20+ years of experience, I think putting years only makes it look like you’re trying to conceal a short stint somewhere - just my opinion though brotha
honesty is the best policy here - instead of lying by omission and sweating during interviews wondering if they know, take the time to frame an explanation for the shorter tenure (e.g., bad cultural fit)
