Am I being ghosted (or do I need to be patient)?

I would love some feedback here.

I've been job hunting for a while after a redundacy in sell-side research. At one point, I caught up with someone from my former bank who had started as a head of technology at a large institution. He offered to look out for opportunities at his firm.

Not sure what happened behind the scenes, but in mid-December, I was contacted by a secretary to schedule interviews with a head of regional sales, a head of marketing and a head of distribution (the boss of the other two). No advertised role, but it came up that they are thinking of hiring someone to work on research product. After the interview, I introduced the sales head to the CEO of an industry association (had come up in conversation) and he replied that he was grateful.

My interview with the head of distribution seemed super positive. After I described my background, he said that he was "blown away" because I'd hit on several areas that they need help with. We linked up over WhatsApp and he asked me to draft a role description.  I sent him something the next day and he replied that it was thoughtful and impressive. He asked me to email it, so that there would be an "audit trail" that would look good for me.

I was feeling pretty confident at this point. He mentioned going to Europe for the holidays, so I figured it could be a couple weeks before any movement. On Jan 9, I texted him to say happy new year and reaffirm my interest. He replied that he remembered me well, was dealing with a huge backlog and would revert in a day or two. A week went by and nothing... Yesterday I forwarded some new research from an industry peer (hoped this might be a gentle nudge, but no word after 24 hours).

I'm getting antsy because I'm so sick of job hunting and they had been so positive in their feedback. How should I read this? Should I keep following up at this point?
