Australia: Work permits for Finance jobs

Hello guys,

Has anyone looked into working in Finance in Australia without being an Australian citizen?

I read through this website and it seems work permits are not issued for jobs in Finance but I'm not sure about the reliability of this website.

Does anyone know if a foreigner is able to get a work permit in Australia for a Finance job?

Thanks

I live in Australia at the moment. Don't know too much about the actual details, but there is a special Visa relationship between Aus/US so if you're a US citizen it may make it relatively easy to get a work Visa for Australia. I know the bank I interned at (and am returning to) had at least a couple of Europeans who had come over pretty recently, so it's definitely possible to get work visas for finance jobs...

Thanks notthehospitalER.

Do you know exactly which countries these Europeans were from and if they were actually in entry level positions?

Have you seen entry level people from other countries such as from Asia? (Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, etc.)

Spain & Italy. Not entry level, they are associate/VP level bankers - neither was an internal transfer.

I haven't seen entry levels from other countries - IB is pretty competitive here (more than the US I think - 1 spot for ~500 applications or something similar on average) and I think needing Visa sponsorship would put someone at a disadvantage (not entirely sure though).

Look into the US/AUS Visa thing - may be what you need.
