Consulting, and now what? Need career options...

Hi,

I've recently been applying like mad to consulting firms in NYC. I managed to get to final rounds for FTI and Navigant but was shot down in the end. And now since the recruiting season is basically over, at least for OCR, I'm at a loss for what to do.

I am an Economics major with a minor in Web Programming and Applications and experience in data analytics, statistics, research and that kind of thing. I was attracted to consulting because I thought it was a good match for my skills, and interests. But now I need other options and I'm not sure where to look. What fields should I be looking at, companies, government? Any direction would be helpful.

Thanks!

Internet. Growing fast and still young, it's only going to get bigger and better.

Google, Facebook, etc.

This website is so gung ho about finance but the reality is it's not a growing market.

Companies like Google and Facebook are relatively young, the internet is young. There is so much more growth to come in the internet space so working for a major tech company will pay off in the end. Consider finance, strategy, or even tech positions at these major companies.

You could also consider applying for FDLP programs at F500s.

FDLP?

I would like to work at facebook/google/etc but i imagine that its crazy competitive and that my credentials aren't nearly enough to get me even one foot in the door. :/

i'll keep a look out for such opportunities tho, time to invest more time in that tech minor of mine >Also, what about something like equity research? There are fewer spots and recruiting is much less structured, so you may get lucky and find ER spots open late in the "recruiting season"[/quote]

yea, i was looking into equity research as a possibility. but are there any specific firms i should be on a lookout for or is it just usually a group within a company? i haven't seen any pop up on ocr though, so i guess ill try browsing the sub-forum here.

thanks for your replies! more suggestions are welcome XD
