It’s going to be pretty unlikely to get any sort of legit internship in finance by just applying or dropping your resume. If I were you, I would….

1) Look around for searchfund internships. I know Dallas has a lot and I’m sure other parts of Texas do too. You can use resources like Searchfunder / Handshake or just do some snooping around online. They’re usually pretty lax and can still enjoy your summer while getting something cool on your resume.

2) Reach out to smaller WM/AM or any type of investment firm. Email someone within the firm expressing interest in the field/industry, and at the end of the call ask if they do internships. (These connection will also be valuable later on)

Last summer I did a search fund internship, it was great. Know a few kids who did small PE or finance all through parents friends.

With the list I’ve already gathered, what would be the most optimal way to approach it? Just short cold email with resume asking about internship opportunities? Or try to have call with recruiter and at the end propose internship? Still figuring out the best way to go about using the list I’ve built
