FP&A, M&A, and AM -> What's next?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a rising junior at a semi-target. I've had a good amount of work experience in the last year. Last summer, I interned in the FP&A unit at a large non-profit; and right now, I'm interning at a large healthcare firm doing in-house M&A advisory (property and facility acquisitions). And this summer, I'm supposed to intern at a mid-sized ($250 B AUM) mutual/hedge fund investment house; the MD made it clear that the firm only hires MBAs and CFAs so there won't be an offer at the end of the summer.

I'm just wondering whether it's time for me to commit to one style of finance firm (IB, AM, M&A, PE, etc.) or whether I should keep on exploring.

Most of my work so far has been in the healthcare industry, so I would like to learn more about different industries. My school's finance program tends to feed into accounting and asset management, so I'm wondering whether I should look for opportunities away from those (e.g. IB, S&T).

I would love to hear how people decided to pursue (IB, AM, M&A, etc.) over something else.

Thanks for any advice and stories!
