Freshman Internship for a non-target student
What are some realistic undergrad freshman internships for someone at a non-target? I've (trying to get into IB) heard to go for anything even closely related to finance (and even not) to get any kind of experience. On the other hand, how necessary is a freshman internship? I've been told not really, but I'd still really like to do one bc I see it as an extra leg up. Should I look to local banks? What's a good way to apply-- walk in and hand out resume and talk? How comparable is it to club projects/ECs if those are related to high finance (think student-run ER fund)?
