Fully remote job options in Finance

We all know about the trend of tech workers' roles becoming fully remote, who are taking their Western salaries to live it up in sunnier, bougie enclaves of under developed countries. It got me thinking about what options there are for people in the finance industry to do the same.

Particularly post-pandemic, nearly all of the major financial centers have become grotesquely expensive to live in, not only the top ones like NYC and London but also regional cities in Europe like Zurich, Paris, even Dublin... I'm sure the story is similar enough for tier 2 cities in the States.

Because let's face it, the majority of your money beyond a certain point just gets swallowed by the government in taxes (particularly in UK/EU) and to service a bloated mortgage or eyewatering for a place you need to be near the job, making the marginal effort to climb the corporate ladder not nearly as worth it as decades past.

So, monkeys, is there any way for finance people to step out of the matrix and be employed fully remotely in this industry? The only ones I have personally come across were hardcore quant developer types. Would be interested to hear if anyone has come across other roles that that could do this.
