IB with a Law Degree (Europe)
Hi there,
I received an LLB Degree in Europe but ultimately I decided that law wasn't for me, so I want to move to finance. As I understand, in my situation, my best 2 options are getting into a prestigious MSc in Finance or either an MBA to break into IB.
But I have no clue if I can do that. Getting into a prestigious MSc in Finance requires you to have courses in some quantitative and business topics in your undergrad but unfortunately, we don't have those in our law curriculum. Getting into a top MBA requires work experience and passing the GMAT, which again, requires time.
I'm considering for the moment applying to an LLM to not have a gap in my CV, so I'm curious, would an LLM in Law and Finance be helpful when recruiting for banking? Or an MBA is the only option?
If not, should I just forget about finance and remain in law? My option would be to work at a Magic Circle law firm in London.
I have in mind the LLM in Law and Finance at the University of Amsterdam or the MSc in Law and Finance at Oxford (other programs are either entirely law-focused or require quantitative courses).
What's your advice?
