When speaking with the guys that I interviewed with the work seems good, Securities Lending, Delta One Desks, risk arb, etc. I just can't get past the fact that its in Mumbai which is known for outsourcing BO work. I was told by someone within the division that they are a FO division.
I can talk to one of the analysts on the phone..What's a polite way of me asking if it is a front office position?
Ask if there is client interaction/who their clients are. If they support/work for other people within the firm, then it's BO/MO. If they're directly in contact with/working with external clients, hedge funds, investors, etc., then it's FO.

Also, interview was extremely brain teaser and market knowledge heavy.
Do you have the actual posting for the job and the title?
ff
From my understanding, graduate training programs are not front office.
You may want to do some more research before plunging into this, if you are indeed worried that it is MO or BO.
