Interesting Background, Want to break into banking

Hi friends,

I graduated college about a year ago with a degree in financial math & stats. The past year, I have been primarily focused on building a business which we have been pitching to VC's. I have been in charge of the whole thing, including building the deck, financial projections, actually pitching to the VCs, etc. To be honest capital is pretty dry right now (Web3 gaming project), and I I am not entirely certain this is going to work like I thought it would.

I am 23 years old, will be 24 relatively soon. Is it too late to break in as an IB Analyst somewhere? I have seen different trains of thought here. Apart of me thinks it is better to go the MBA route, but I wanted to get some input incase anyone knows if breaking into the analyst role at 24 or 25 is still possible.

I am in the same boat as you with an engineering undergrad and talked to 50+ people in IB. Only 2 of them said age will be a hinderance and the rest said it was all in my head and no one cares about your age ( as long as you’re in your 20s )

Networking is an absolute necessity and since you learnt how to sell already you shouldn’t have a problem there.

For technicals I just did a Wall Street oasis course. I found it to be pretty easy and got done with it in about a month while working full time. I think you would have no problem breaking in as long as you have social skills and persistence.

One tip everyone gave me was to target smaller shops with a less formal hiring process. Good luck
