is it too late to get into Ib
Not sure how to go about this but is it too late for me to get into IB. I currently finished my undergrad degree and have a 3.3 CGPA. Is there still a chance I can get into IB maybe if I do a masters? Was thinking of getting a masters of finance? or maybe cfa would be better? Has anyone been able to do this before?
If you truly want to get into IB you can. You may have to work harder then other candidates, but definitely possible if you put in the effort and time. Good luck.
Masters or CFA won't help you. CFA is 100% useless for IB (better for AM/ER) and masters is really only for already well-prepared kids who just need an extra year to recruit, you won't be able to make up for your sitution with it.
Get a job somewhere in finance, can be like FP&A or anything tangentially finance-related, work for 2-3 years and go to a M7/top 15 MBA. Very very well-tested path to IB and you can go straight to a top bank instead of floundering around at tiny shops trying to move up.
Can also look for a valuation or financial due diligence type role and transfer in at analyst level in a year or two once markets re-open
Low GPA will likely mean you wont' get into a good masters program. That would then mean much less chance of a good IB placement. Try aiming for no-name LMM IB to get your foot in the door. Don't hold yourself too highly when applying and networking because it's not a hot job market and there are better qualified candidates out there.
