Jefferies Generalist vs UBS Financial Sponsors
Guys, just got summer internship offers from both groups and am struggling to decide.
My goal is to move to PE in a few years so I am leaning towards UBS FSG. However, if I try FSG and determine I don't like it, is it easy/hard to move back to M&A either within UBS or to another bank?
Thanks.
In my honest opinion, it’s brand name > group unless it’s a niche product or coverage (like Fund Finance or RE). You can bullshit your way through explaining deals in order to fit the PE investment approach.
Make that choice yourself. UBS FSG will likely be less hours. Idk how many CS sponsor bankers were inherited but CS FSG ran shit. I’d take UBS
UBS FSG likely best fit if you're trying to go into PE. You'll be working with the exact people you would be looking to get a job with, which is always the best way to get into that next role. Both positions would be strong though, so don't think you'll have an issue either way. If you decide you dont love it, it's fine, you've got plenty of time to re-define your career. I moved into RX after being on the coverage side, so never to late to move around to find something you like
UBS does not give you internship offers based on groups btw. They are both generalist programs. UBS FSG/LevFin was one of the strongest groups for exits when combined and am assuming it'll remain so due to headhunters not changing their views on groups very much over the years.
Since when was UBS FSG one of the strongest groups for exits lmaooo
