Moving to NYC to network?
Is it worth moving to NYC to network, or should I stick to calls and Zoom meetings. How big of an edge is in person? I am from Dallas, so I could easily fly out to NYC and stay with a friend and come back for major meetings. I work remotely with a highly flexible schedule so that won't be an issue.
I’d personally say no - not anymore, at least. While in-person networking is certainly valuable, the incremental value over zoom (in today’s world) is not worth relocating cities. As bankers we now build a lot of our relationships with clients via Zoom meetings - so you should be able to do so with networking.
Thank you. To clarify, I should network on LinkedIn, do phone and Zoom calls, and once I've known them a while or if they are rather senior offer to fly out and buy them a bite? Any other recommendations?
Definitely don’t think it’s necessary to go out of your way and fly all the way to New York just for some coffee chats. I went to a non-target in the Midwest and landed multiple super days without ever going to NYC
Ahh so I'm definitely being too much of try hard got it.
